State Property and Philadelphia rapper Freeway Talks Signing To Jay Z’s Roc Nation and His New Roth Childs Company. It turns out the Roc-A-Fella Records affiliates have in fact reunited for a new deal.

Billboard spoke with Freeway, and he discussed his new partnership with Roc Nation.

“I mean, of course it’s something that I always wanted to do,” said Freeway when asked if he thought he and Jay would ever work together again. “I just was doing my own thing and trying to work as hard as I can on my own. If the opportunity presented itself for me to make it happen, I always knew that I would try.”

According to Free, they connected at Jay’s Tidal B-Sides concert in 2015, and then a conversation about inking a deal with Jay’s label began backstage at a recent Beyoncé concert.

The “What We Do” spitter was involved in an independent deal at the time of the B-Sides show, so he had to wait before he could officially join Roc Nation.

“When that was over, I had to wait three months before I could do anything. It was all perfect timing. By the grace of God, it happened one after the other. As soon as my thing was up, I ran into Jay, told him I was ready and he was like, ‘Let’s get it done!’” recalled Freeway.
