Jay Z and WeinsteinFilms are taking on the untold story of TrayvonMartin. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Martin was fatally shot by neighborhood watch volunteer, GeorgeZimmerman, in February 2012. He was 17 years old. His death, and Zimmerman’s acquittal, sparked a movement within the black community. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Like “TIME: The Kalief Browder Story,” which airs Wednesday nights on SpikeTV, Jay Z is working on a 6-part series about Trayvon. After winning a heated bidding war for the rights of two books, “Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice and Why We Continue to Repeat It” and “Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin,” Trayvon’s story will finally come to the small screen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Suspicion Nation” was written by Lisa Bloom, who documents her experience covering the Zimmerman trial for NBC. Trayvon’s parents, SybrinaFulton and TracyMartin, wrote “Rest in Power,” a more personal story about Trayvon’s childhood and the aftermath of his death. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Weinstein Company, who Jay Z partnered with in September, is known for their work on the highly acclaimed film,  FruitvaleStation.
